I have a demo here from Jan 2020. Its crazy to think that "everything i want" was virtually the same all the way back then. But it wasnt really hitting. and i would tweak it for the next 3 years trying to get it 10% better. During that time, I completely rewrote the verse in a more psychedelic way... before deciding ultimately that the original "boy band" style verse was the vibe. This demo showcases the original verse pretty much as it ended up in the final version with a few words difference. It also has the first pass idea for the extended outro, which was a part of the song for a while in my imagination. At this time i did have the "no one no one no one but you" idea but had not yet added it to the song. I do have a separate recording of it from teh same day as this so I would remember it. It sounds good to sing "no one but you" over the outro. But in the end, everything i want needed to be a short song that blasted right through itself.
the outro is really a self indulgent celebration of the multi-layered instrument i created to be the basis of the song. the whole point of everything i want was to say what if i tried to make My Bloody Valentine with synthesizers, then sing like a strung out backstreet boys. So i was really proud of the synths here at this time
